Darryl J. King, 62, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Columbus Junction. Military Rites will follow by the Iowa National Guard Funeral Honors and the Allen Wright Hanft American Legion Post #100. Following the services at the funeral home, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Columbus Junction American Legion. Darryl James King was born on February 24, 1963, in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Donald Joseph and Bertha Agnes (Moellers) King. Darryl was a 1981 graduate of New Hampton High School. On October 22, 1988, Darryl was united in marriage to Gina Ricks in Belton, Missouri. Darryl‘s life was one of service to his fellow man. He proudly served his country as a soldier in the United States Army during Operation Desert Storm. Then after returning to civilian life, he dedicated himself to serving others, as a long-haul truck driver. He drove truck for over 35 years and during that time Darryl started DM Truc King with family. Darryl remained with the company even after it was sold. Darryl was never lonely in the truck, he was known for having his dogs with him on his long journeys. In his spare time, Darryl enjoyed working on his truck or restoring old tractors with his good friend Lee Foster. Darryl was a husband, stepdad, brother, and friend. He will be missed by many.
Darryl is survived by his step-son, Tristan (Selena) Ricks of Belton, Missouri; good friend, Jason Nelson in Washington; two step grandchildren, Jack and Tessiana; siblings, Diane (Craig) Roalfs of Osage, David King of Gladbrook, Deb Dickman of Great Falls, Montana, Ron (Deanna) King of Loves Park, Illinois, Paula (Larry) Taylor of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Dona (Tracy) Rogers of Anchorage, Alaska, Michael (Lisa) King of Eddyville and Lori King of Osage.
Darryl was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Harry King and Donnie King and brother-in-law, Bernie Dickman.
