Darrel Belzer Obituary

Darrel Belzer, 81, of Burlington passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Wapello Specialty Care.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at the West Burlington Chrisitan Church.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.   Following the Celebration of Life a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church.     Private family burial with Military Honors will be in Wapello Cemetery at a later date.  A memorial has been established for the West Burlington Christian Church in Darrel’s name.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello is caring for Darrel’s arrangements. 

Darrel L. Belzer was born on September 7, 1944 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Clay “Pete” and Edna (Durrett) Belzer.  Darrel was a graduate of Wapello High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army.  Darrel was united in marriage to Janet LaFever and they later divorced.  In 1974 he was united in marriage to Cindy Larson and they also later divorced.  Darrel was a truck driver for all of his life, driving for many companies including S & H Transport and Umthun Trucking.  He retired from owning and operating his own trucking business.  Darrel was a member of West Burlington Christian Church.  He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, going to Las Vegas, St. Louis Cardinal baseball and Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball.  Above everything he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

Darrel will be deeply missed by his children, Scott (Bev) Belzer of Conroy, Iowa, Vince Luke of Burlington, Kevin (Melissa) Belzer of Anthem, Arizona, Chad Luke of Harvest, Alabama and Brian (Mashell) Belzer of Morning Sun; grandchildren, Brandi, Dustin, Dana, Zachary, Alexander, Jackson, Libby, Anthony, Logan, Daysi, Cole and Carson; nine great-grandchildren and long-time friend, Karen Wagner.
