Darlene Mae (Martin) Holmes

Darlene Holmes, 90, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Aspire of Muscatine.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for Darlene’s family and arrangements.   Sympathy notes may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Darlene Mae Martin was born on September 25, 1935, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Ivan and Dorothy (Allen) Martin.  On August 8, 1976 she was united in marriage Joe “Red” Holmes.  She worked at Community Services for a short time, then worked in the laundry at the Holiday Inn and later drove truck with Red.  Darlene enjoyed camping, trout fishing, dancing, casinos, traveling to Las Vegas and having a good time with her family and friends.

Darlene will be deeply missed by her husband, Joe ‘Red” Holmes of Muscatine; sons, Gary (Tammy) Bixby of Delhi; Brian (Lori) Bixby of Las Vegas and Tal (Julie) Bixby of Muscatine; grandchildren, Adam, Matt, Nicholas and Anna; great-granddaughter, Ally and sister, Delores “Dee” Pulliam of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Grother and brother, Ivan “Corky” Martin
