Daniel Lee Wyss, 68, of Morning Sun passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, following twelve years of courageously battling the effects of cancer and the toll the treatments took on his body.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Morning Sun. Memorials may be left to the Morning Sun 4th of July Celebration Committee or the Morning Sun Hometown Pride for the Splash Pad in Dan’s name. Dan was born in Burlington, Iowa, on January 6, 1956, to David and Kathryn (Evans) Wyss. His growing years were spent on a farm along the Iowa River in Oakville, IA. He was a 1974 graduate of Wapello High School. Dan began his career at Monsanto while still a high school senior, retiring in 2014. He was briefly married to Junille Long. The couple later divorced. For the past 30 years, Dan shared his life with Dana Sue Kellog Royer.
Dan appreciated the Asian Culture and spoke fluent Mandarin. He enjoyed many adventurous hobbies through the years, including Motor Cross racing and Karate competitions. The hobby he became most passionate about was skydiving. He traveled throughout the continental U.S. to pursue this passion with thousands of dives, earned status as a professional, and deeply enjoyed the annual skydive into the Morning Sun 4th of July Celebration.
Dan will be deeply missed by his four siblings: Rick (Carol) Wyss, Terri (Jay) Hutcheson, Tom (Brenda) Wyss, and Roger (Sandra) Wyss, and Dana's daughter and grandsons, Kristin (Matthew) Henning, Riley Heinzel, and Kohlton Heinzel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his domestic partner, Dana Sue Kellogg Royer.
