Daniel Hamlin

Daniel “Boone” Hamlin, 55, of Morning Sun passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.    Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralseforservices.com. 

Daniel Hamlin was born on November 21, 1970, in Muscatine, the son of Eugene and Pauline (Hart) Hamlin.  Daniel was a 1989 graduate of Wapello High School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Desert Storm.  On June 2, 1998, Daniel was united in marriage to Ruthann Beard in Wapello.  Daniel had worked for Walmart Distribution in Mt. Pleasant and served as an EMT with the Morning Sun Ambulance.  He enjoyed fishing, puzzles and especially spending time with his grandchildren. 

Daniel will be deeply missed by his wife, Ruthann; children, Hannah (Jacob) Kelley of Morning Sun and Kyra (Joseph) Wade of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Colton, Waylon, Evelynn and Weston; siblings, Lori (Keith) Brunswig of Monmouth, Illinois, Kyle Hamlin and Kathryn Thorne of Burlington and special uncle, Tim Wright of Eldon. 

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Hamlin.
