Connie Lou Blaker was born on November 2, 1953, in Linton, Indiana, the daughter of Ted Lavon and Doris Joann (Emery) Blaker. Connie had been united in marriage to Mack Smith and later divorced. She then married Larry Lee Howell on July 18, 1988, he preceded her in death in 2011. On January 1, 2017, Connie was united in marriage to Kenneth Ralph Clark in Muscatine, Iowa, he also preceded her in death in 2018. Connie worked as an LPN for many years. She was a member of Switz City Full Gospel Church and the Harvest Community Church. Connie’s battle with medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, our mother came out a Hero and stayed strong until the end. Connie had a Love for God, his word, and clung to her faith. She had a gift in the kitchen. If anyone had the blessing of sitting at her table, you never left unsatisfied. Her love language was serving. Most recently she discovered a southern cook, Brenda Gantt. That woman touched her and mirrored our mommas cooking style. It was her last real joy to relate in Faith & Food. Mom urged us in her final days to never open a jar of pickles and waste the pickles OR the juice.

Connie will be deeply missed by her loyal canine companion Ethan, her three daughters, Shannon (Jeremy) Swails, Sabrina (Dennis) Melvin and Jessica McGill (Marc Jones) all of Muscatine; sister, Linda (Richard) Pyne of Bloomfield and several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Angel McGill; sister, Jeanne Edwards and nephew, Ritchie Edington.
