Cody Scott Thorpe was born on December 4, 1991 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Jack L. and Victoria Linn (Martin) Thorpe. Words to best describe Cody aka Cody Dody would be: Strong, independent, loving, outgoing, eager and to those closest to him-Hero. Cody was big guy with an even bigger heart. He loved hard-loved his daughter, loved his family and loved his friends (although most everyone ended up being family in Cody’s eyes). Cody grew up learning to work on cars and enjoying time fishing with his brother, Dustin and enjoying sports with his other brother, Charlie. As Cody got older he worked jobs driving Truck like his father, Jack. Cody spent as much time as he possibly could with his daughter, Sophia-she was his happy place. He cherished watching her dance, play sports and taking her out in every new vehicle he got making sure to teach her things she would need to know in life.
Cody always held his family close, always made sure to reach out and make sure everyone was doing okay. Cody’s friends would say he was the life of the party and always knew how to cheer people up. Always putting everyone else’s feelings first and get them out of a bad spot-that was Cody. Cody was an amazing friend, a great father, the perfect brother, a loving son, the best uncles and a special grandson
Cody will be deeply missed by his daughter, Sophia Lopez-Thorpe (Mayra Lopez); father, Jack Thorpe brothers, Charles ‘Charlie” (Jamie) Charlier of Maquoketa and Dustin “Duddy” Charlier of Muscatine; several nieces and nephews; grandmother, Linda Martin of Muscatine and uncles, Tim (Karen) Martin and Dave (Tara) Martin all of Muscatine.
Cody was preceded in death by his beloved mom, Vicky on March 9, 2025 and grandfather, Ivan Martin.
