Obituary

Claudio Meza, 64, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Visitation for Claudio will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Claudio Meza was born on April 8, 1957, in Del Rio, Texas, the son of Heriberto and Leonor (De La Rosa) Meza.  On September 15, 1974, Claudio was united in marriage to Celia Cuellar in Del Rio.  He worked for IBP Hwy 70 in Columbus Junction from December 29, 1986 – May 29, 1993 the United Automotive Technologies in Iowa City on Hwy 6 for 24 years, from June 1, 1993 – 2017.  Claudio was a thinker, he would sit and think about things and then he would be on the go.  He never stopped doing things.  He was all about having the kids, grandkids outside.  He is a family man.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and weekend cookouts with everybody.  He liked to play the guitar, sing karaoke and play music on his computer for his grandkids. He enjoyed feeding his chickens and making fires.  He loved the outdoors but he loved his family most of all.

Claudio will be deeply missed by his wife, Celia of Columbus Junction; his children, Maria (Micah) King of Columbus Junction, Claudio (Carrie) Meza, Jr. of Dallas City, Illinois, Veronica (Cesar) Lara of Columbus Junction and Erek Meza of Columbus Junction; seventeen grandchildren, Zackery (Margie) King, Andrew King, Celia King, Tayte Schoff, Hannah Allen, Hayden Root, Andrea (Kit) Carson, Ashley Meza, Ayla Meza, Angel Marie Meza, Manny Arguello, Angel Arguello, Leo Lara, Jorge Lara, Bella Meza, Michelle Ventura and Makayla Ventura; five great grandchildren, Xavier and Xaiden King, Ciera Carson, Cameron Meza and Alaya Lynn Arguello Nunez and siblings, Maria (Rafael) Grajales, Bertha (Ramiro) Ovalle, Petra Diaz, Marisela (Ernesto) Fay, Yolanda (Ramont) Clay, Heriberto (Carmen) Meza, Raul (Manuela) Meza Sr., Pedro (Olga) Meza and Jose R. (Eloisa) Meza.

Claudio was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernesto Meza and sisters, Juanita Medina and Graciela Guanajuato.
