Cindy Lee (Waldschmidt) Mapel

Cindy Mapel, 68, of Riverside, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, peacefully at her home.  Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Riverside.  Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Riverside VFW at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.  Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Cindy.  Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. 

Cindy Lee Waldschmidt was born on February 14, 1957, in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Verlee (Millage) Waldschmidt.  On June 27, 1975, she was united in marriage to Michael Mapel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  She worked for five years at Finley Engineering and retired from Bankers Advertising/Tru-Art Color Graphics after 35 years.  Cindy was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.  She enjoyed golfing, puzzles, gardening, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Most of all, she loved being with her family.

Cindy will be deeply missed by her husband, Michael Mapel of Riverside; children, Matthew (Leslie) Mapel of Cedar Rapids, Shannon (David) Sells of Crawfordsville, Ryan (Anna) Mapel of Longview, Washington State; grandchildren, Caitlin (Bryce Chunn) Sells, Courtney Mapel, Alexis Mapel, Catrina Sells, Tyler Mapel and Effe Mapel; sisters, Monica (Gary) Fuhrmeister of Iowa City, Patti (Bob) Slaubaugh of Kalona and Karen Nupp of Wayland.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carolyn Waldscmidt, Debra Waldschmidt and a brother-in-infancy.
