Christine Elizabeth (Derhefer) Michaels

Christine Michaels, 81, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 at her home.  Private services will be held at a later date.  The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Christine Elizabeth Derhefer was born on May, 29, 1939 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Girard and Elizabeth (Hanson) Derhefer.  Elizabeth passed away when Christine was two months old.  Later Girard married Emma Balogh and together they raised her and her sisters. She was united in marriage to Jack Michaels on September 10, 1960 in Cincinnati, OH.  Christine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the PEO.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and entertaining guests.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.     

Christine will be dearly missed by her husband Jack Michaels of Muscatine; sister, Patricia Brelih of Palm Desert, CA; children, Teresa (David) Ayares of Blacksburg, VA, G. Scott (Diane) Michaels of Alpharetta, GA,  Kimberly (Robert) Hart of Aliso Viejo, CA; grandchildren, Alicia (Corey) McCoy, Alex (Blake) Michaels, Kaitlyn (Michael) Rogers, Michael Ayares, Sarah Michaels and Matthew Manibog; great-grandchildren, Tommy McCoy, Camden Michaels, Hayden Michaels, Jackson Rogers, Hattee McCoy, Marlee McCoy and Bricen Michaels.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother; sister, Maren Franks and great-granddaughter, Maryn McCoy.

The family is forever grateful for the special caregivers who cared for Christine over the years.
