Charles "Chuck" Houseman Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Edward Houseman, 70, of Conesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for the family. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Charles was born on December 1, 1953 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Cecil and Darlene (Becker) Houseman. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1972 and served honorably in the United States Army. Charles was united in marriage to Cindy Jo Hank in 1973 and they welcomed a son, Jeremy. The couple later divorced.

Charles worked for GPC and then as a supervisor for Hon for 14 years. He later worked for Terry & Son’s Painting until his retirement. Charles was a member of the Painter’s Union and of the Columbus Junction American Legion. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. Charles enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, sitting at his cabin, and salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. He enjoyed cooking and woodworking, creating everything from furniture to duck calls. Charles loved dogs, cats, and most of all, his family. He spent much of his time with his grandchildren, teaching them to hunt and fish.

He will be deeply missed by his girlfriend, Shari Phillips of Conesville, and her two daughters, Robin and Shelly; his son, Jeremy (Sheree) Houseman of Muscatine; grandchildren: Chaz Houseman, Kaylee Hayes, Avery Houseman, and Gunner Houseman; brother, Ron (Pam) Houseman of Galveston, TX; nephews and niece: Ben Houseman of Muscatine; Jesse (Stephanie) Houseman of Muscatine; and A.J. (Carley) Houseman of Summersville, SC; great-nieces and nephews: Carter, Ella, Harper and Finley; and his beloved dog, Festus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janet Panko.
