Catherine "Cathy" Ruble

Catherine Ann “Cathy” Ruble, 81, of Wapello, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello, where the family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Burial will be in the Wapello Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Wapello Fire and Rescue or for the Wapello Police Department in Cathy’s name. Cathy was born April 7, 1943 in Wapello, Iowa, the daughter of James Otto and Minnie (Marie) Ruble. She graduated from Wapello High School. Cathy worked for Thatcher’s until their closing and then for Tri-State for ten years. She also worked at the sub shop in Wapello. She was a life-long resident of Wapello and a member of the VFW Post 5166 Auxiliary for 30 years, serving as their treasurer. Cathy grew up with horses and enjoyed attending horse races. She will be lovingly remembered by her family as the aunt who provided Christmas presents for everyone and always made cheeseballs.

She will be deeply missed by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 7 brothers and sisters: Lola, Bessie, Mary Sue, Thomas, James, Robert and William; and many nieces and nephews.
