Bruce L. Spears

Bruce L. Spears, 72, of Mediapolis, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Washington County Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.  Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Mediapolis.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.   Following the service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Mediapolis City Hall.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bruce’s name.  Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. 

Bruce Loren Spears was born on August 6, 1952, in Washington, Iowa the son of Doyle Keith and Mamie Jean (Stapp) Spears.  He attended Mediapolis High School.  On January 25, 1983, Bruce was united in marriage to Sherry Lynn Roberts in Mediapolis.  Bruce was a farmer, a truck driver for Spears Trucking and tank driver for Ideal Ready Mix for 38 years.  He enjoyed watching old Western movies, horses, Harley Davidson, tinkering and fixing things, talking on the phone, wintering in Florida at his brother, Myron’s home and breakfast at Shiner’s, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Bruce will be deeply missed by his wife, Sherry of Mediapolis, his children, Lyndsey (Jacob) Coppes of Mediapolis, Tenile Luttenegger of Houston, Texas and Travis (Layne) Luttenegger of Mediapolis; seven grandchildren, Gracie Coppes (Coltin), Lillyan Luttenegger, William Luttenegger, Henry Luttenegger, Chloe Coppes, Madelynn Coppes and Milo Coppes; one great grandson, Grayson Nelson; siblings Ronnie Spears of Mediapolis and Dennis (Lana) Spears of Mediapolis; special niece, Tracy (Todd) Farnsworth and their children, Kate and Avery and many more nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Myron and Jeff.
