Bill Hartsock Obituary

Bill Hartsock, 91, of Wapello and Burlington, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo.    Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello.  Memorial Services with Military Honors will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the funeral home.  Burial will be at a later date at Rock Island National Cemetery.    A memorial has been established for the Korean Veterans in Bill’s name.    Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservices.com.   

Billy Dale Hartsock was born on March 24, 1933 in Wapello, Iowa, the son of Leroy “Banty” and Madeline (Dotson) Hartsock.  Bill graduated from Wapello High Schools.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  On December 24, 1952, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Nichols.  Bill worked in management for Bluff Harbor Marina for 10 years and for Sunoco for 20 years.  He started the Korean Veterans Iowa Chapter.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, bowling and shooting pool.

Bill will be deeply missed by his daughter, Julie (significant other, Charles) Ervin of Burlington; two grandchildren, Ryan and Zach Ervin; great grandchildren, Spencer, Leon and Kiari and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marjorie on December 12, 2008 and siblings, Larry Hartsock and Darlene Williams.
