Beverly Jean Cornic Karagin, 92, of Morning Sun, Ia. died on Dec. 26, 2025 at Sunrise Terrace Rehabilitation in Winfield, Ia. She was born May 5, 1933, the daughter of Ray and Marie Wheeler Cornic. On Aug. 21, 1954 she married Milos (Mick) Karagin Jr. in Morning Sun. He preceded her in death in 2010.
She graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1950, The University of Dubuque in 1954 and earned a Master’s Degree from Indiana University in 1963. She taught at Lost Nation, Ia., at Aetna Elem. School in Gary In. and Longfellow Elementary, Lake Ridge Schools in Calumet Township, Gary, In. She retired from teaching in 1991 and moved back to Iowa.
She and Mick enjoyed traveling. They wintered 15 years in Donna Tx. They traveled to all 50 states, Mexico and Canada. She visited the Holy Land and traveled in the Middle East. In 1990 she attended the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany and traveled through Europe.
She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers, Morning Sun Lioness and the Centenary United Methodist of Morning Sun. She was Morning Sun Citizen of the Year in 2012.
She is survived by sons Brad (Kathy) Karagin of Highland Village Tx. and Mike (Lynda) Karagin of Morning Sun, and step-grandson Jeromy Venghaus, two nephews and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Steven, step-granddaughter Rae Lyn Venghaus and one nephew.
Services will take place Dec. 30, 2025 at 10:00am at Centenary United Methodist Church in Morning Sun. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery, Morning Sun. The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Morning Sun is caring for the family. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.
