Betty Bernice Gerels Zorn, age 96, of Muscatine, passed away on July 21, 2026 at Arcadia Care of Aledo. Graveside services at Greenwood Cemetery will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026. A time of food and fellowship will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Merrill Hotel Ballroom A, 119 West Mississippi Drive, Muscatine. The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for the family. Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church at 1613 Bidwell Road, Muscatine, Iowa, 52761. Betty was born on August 28, 1929 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Georgiana Kerr Gerels and Sherman Gerels. She married Kenneth Ufheil on 1/6/76. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1993. She later married Ralph Zorn on 6/17/95 and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2015.
Betty worked many years for the Muscatine School system as a custodian and for the City of Muscatine driving the Muscabus. She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family and her dog, Tashi. She liked golfing, bowling, playing the piano; she was an avid crafter, especially sewing, knitting, and quilting. Many of her crafted items were given to family and friends.
Those left to honor her memory include a daughter Diana Laucamp Batchelor of Surprise, Arizona; two grandchildren, Richard Batchelor and his wife Kristal of Fruitland, IA; Jennifer Batchelor Nelson and husband Brad of Clive, IA; four great grandchildren, Erich Batchelor and his wife Kadie; Lucas Batchelor and his wife Jazzmen of Fruitland, IA; Payton Reyes and Fisher Nelson of Clive, IA; two great-great grandchildren, Olivia Batchelor and Winnie Batchelor of Fruitland, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, two sons, her parents, six sisters and two brothers.
