Betty Jane Massner, 91, of Mediapolis, went peacefully to be with Jesus, on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Azria Health Prairie Ridge in Mediapolis. Private family graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in rural Oakville. Betty was an avid reader and asked for memorials to be sent directly to the Mediapolis Public Library, PO Box 39, Mediapolis, IA 52637. Betty Jane Allison was born on February 11, 1934 in Davenport, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Beiter) Allison. On July 29, 1960, she was united in marriage to Clarence Massner in Mediapolis. They owned Massner Antiques in Mediapolis. She was a teacher of English, Speech and Drama for over 40 years, most of those at Mediapolis Community Schools, and also directed many school plays and was the co-director of the first production at the Mediapolis Community Theatre. After her retirement from the school, she worked at the Mediapolis News for 20 years.
Betty will be deeply missed by her in-laws, Norma Massner, Rose Massner, Bertha Lee Massner, Phyllis Massner-Knobloch, Dorothy (Richard) Taeger, Dale Massner, Harold (Annette) Massner, Lloyd Massner and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and several in-laws.
