Bernadette A. (Schmuker) BeVier

Bernadette A. BeVier, 86, of Muscatine, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Lutheran Living.  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Ss. Mary Mathias Church.  The Reverend Isaac Doucette will officiate.  Burial will be in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Gannon Hall.  Memorials may be directed to the family in Bernadette’s memory.  Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Bernadette Anne Schmuker was born on May 8, 1938, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Peter Marcus and Helen Adele (Darling) Schmuker.  On April 11, 1959, Bernadette was united in marriage to James Harland BeVier at the St. Anthony Church in Grand Rapids.  She worked at Stiles and Wester Drug in Muscatine.  Bernadette was a member of Ss. Mary Mathias Church and enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, crossword puzzles, fishing, gambling and going on trips, but most of all, she dearly loved to spend time with her family.

Bernadette will be deeply missed by her children, Laura (James) Birch of Muscatine, Lisa (Brian) Wymer of Grandview, Linda (Tom) Day of Muscatine, Louise (Don) McDonough of Muscatine, James (Karen Sickles) BeVier of Red Bluff, Arkansas and John (Carolyn) BeVier of Muscatine; 23 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Barbara) Schmuker of Michigan, David (Eileen) Schmuker of Michigan, Anthony (Mary) Schmuker of Michigan and Tom (Dana) Schmuker of Michigan; sisters, Martha (Jerry) Jordan of Illinois, Barbara (Doug) Pointer of Michigan; Teresa (Steve) Wohlfert of Michigan and Anne (Joe) Budnick of Michigan; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Schmuker of Illinois and many nieces and nephews.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James; brother, Peter Schmuker and many aunts and uncles.
