Barbara Jean (Connell) Woodstra

Barbara Jean Woodstra, 97, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Addington Place.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to Faith United Church of Christ, 3307  Mulberry Avenue, Muscatine, IA 52761 or Trinity Muscatine Friends, 1518 Mulberry Ave, Muscatine, IA 52761  in Barbara’s name.  Online Condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. Barbara Jean was born on June 17, 1925 in Winthrop, Massachusetts, the daughter of George J. and Florence C. (Staples) Connell.  She married Harvey P. Woodstra on July 18, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts.  She was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the U.S. Dept of Labor and the U.S. War Dept at the Boston Port of Embarkation. 

Barbara was a charter member of Faith United Church of Christ and had been active in all areas of church work, especially the music.  She was a member of the choir for 69 years.  She was also a charter member of the Unity Hospital Auxiliary and the League of Women Voters.  She was a Girl Scout leader for 25 years, delivered Meals on Wheels, was a Hospice volunteer and a member of the Century Club.

Barbara is survived by her children, Pamela Ritchhart (John), Cynthia Kautz (Thomas), Bradford Woodstra (Julie); 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; granddaughter Elisabeth Kautz; parents and her sisters.
