Barbara Ann Schmeiser (Barbianne), 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Wathena Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Wathena, Kansas. Private family graveside services will be held at Wapello Cemetery. The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Wapello is caring for her arrangements. Barbara was born on February 23, 1943, to Orval and Crystal Schmeiser of Wapello, Iowa. After graduating from Wapello High School, she went on to study at the State College of Iowa, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education. After graduation, she taught art in the Davenport, Iowa school system for several years. She then moved to California to pursue work in the art field, focusing on and applying for a position with Walt Disney Studios. After several job opportunities, she returned to teaching art in the Los Angeles school system until she retired.
She settled in the mountainous regions of California before permanently relocating to Atkinson, Kansas where she lived with a strong Christian faith and with numerous cats who were her pride and joy. Following an unfortunate accident, she spent the rest of her days in a care facility.
Barbara will be deeply missed by a sister Ruth Alice Lillie of Shakopee, Minnesota and a brother Donald Dean Schmeiser and his wife Deborah Lorene Bishop of Concord, North Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Crystal Schmeiser.
