Andres "Andy" Garcia

Andy Garcia, 29, of Iowa City passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at his home. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction. Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27 2021, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbus Junction. He will be laid to rest in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Andres Garcia was born August 28, 1992 in Chicago, IL. He is the son of Lorenzo and Martha (Rostro) Garcia and loving brother of Abigail and Martha Garcia. Andy graduated from the University of Iowa where he made many close friends and met his future wife. Andy was then united in marriage to Catherine Avila on September 1, 2018 in Chicago, IL. Andy was a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a friend, and so much more. He was deeply loved by his friends and family. Andy has always been a kind hearted and generous individual. Even at age seven, he was helping others when he acted as an interpreter for his school. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, playing his guitar, and spending time with his wife and their chocolate lab, Rudy. He also enjoyed hosting family bonfires where they would look back on their fondest childhood memories. Those times with him will be forever cherished. Andy always had a way of making everyone around him feel loved which makes an already difficult goodbye, so much harder. Andy’s life and the impact he made on others, will never be forgotten.

Andy will be deeply missed by his wife, Catherine of Iowa City; parents, Lorenzo and Martha Garcia of Fredonia; sisters, Abigail Garcia of Washington and Martha Garcia of Fredonia; and nephew, Lorenzo Garcia of Washington.

Andy was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Guadalupe Rostro and his paternal grandmother, Gloria Garcia.
