Amy G. (Lake) Zybarth

Amy G. (Lake) Zybarth, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Premier Estates in Muscatine.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the Muscatine Humane Society in memory of Amy.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services is caring for Amy’s arrangements and her family.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Amy Gertrude Lake was born on October 17, 1932 in Sweetland township, Iowa, the daughter of Albert D. Lake Sr. and Ethel A. (Walker) Lake.  She received her GED from the Muscatine Community College.  Amy was united in marriage to Marvin J. Zybarth on December 16, 1950 at the St. Mathias Rectory in Muscatine.  They were joyfully married for 67 years.  Amy worked for the Muscatine Police Department for 22 years, serving as Muscatine’s very first Meter Maid and then on to become the first female dispatcher.  Amy was a member of the St. Mathias Church and the Catholic Daughters.  Amy was famous for her baked goods and candy, especially at Christmastime.  Amy’s specialty were her renowned decorated cookies, a family and friend’s favorite for any holiday.  An art she has passed on to her granddaughter. 

Amy will be deeply missed by her children, Mary L. Zybarth of Muscatine, Avery D. (Amy L.) Zybarth of Muscatine and Daniel L. Zybarth and Angela D. Zybarth of Muscatine; her beloved granddaughter, Autumn D. Zybarth of Muscatine; one brother, Raymond D. (Mary Jo) Lake of Muscatine; sister-in-law, Vada (Marvin J.) Timm of Muscatine and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Amy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin J.; sister, Laura (Susie) C. Flynn and brothers, Ralph L. Lake, Kenneth C. Lake, Albert D. Lake and Dean l. Lake.
