Betty L. Eaton, 92, of Muscatine died December 8, 2019 at Lutheran Living. Graveside services will be at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, Illinois in early June. Betty L. Murphy was born September 25, 1927 in Carthage, IL, the daughter of Paul A. and Sarah Mae Murphy. She was a graduate of Carthage High School and John Brown University. On December 24, 1947 she married R. Vergil Eaton. Betty served along side her husband in the ministry of the United Methodist Church Missouri East Conference until retirement to Lee' Summit, MO, moving to Sunnybrook at Muscatine in 2017. She was active in UMW, an avid reader, and enjoyed talking with family and friends.
Betty will be remembered by her children Ray (Janet) Eaton of Philadelphia and Jeanne (John) Scott of Muscatine as well as grandchildren Brad (Kim) Scott, Tara (Lawrence) Thornton, Eric (Bela) Eaton-Quines, and Sarah Eaton, great grandchildren Ryan and Abigail Scott, Hannah and Leah Thornton.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband in 2016, her parents, and brother, William C. Murphy.
