Marjorie E. Wheeler, 93, of Muscatine passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at her home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine. Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Community Room. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the family in Marjorie’s name. Marjorie Evelyn Smull was born on December 30, 1928 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Violet (Smith) Smull. Marjorie was a 1947 graduate of Muscatine High School. On July 1, 1949, Marjorie was united in marriage to Robert W. Wheeler in Muscatine. Marjorie worked at Huttig’s until it closed, she then went to worked for the Muscatine Community School District where she retired from. She enjoyed baking especially at Christmas time, decorating cakes, doing crafts, putting together puzzles, playing cards and doing adult color books. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Seventh Day Adventist Community Center.
Marjorie will be deeply missed by her daughters, Sharon (Mark) Freese and Tonya (John “Bill”) Brokaw, all of Muscatine; daughter-in-law, Marina Wheeler of Brighton, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Bethany) Wheeler, Christopher (Gina) Stevens, Melissa (Alex) Freese, Kurt Freese, Jason Wheeler, Courtney Steele (Tyson) Lamb and Ryan (Cassi) Steele; nine great-grandchildren and special friend, Fred Mullens.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her sons, Randy and Steven and two half-sisters, Marylin Smull and Beverly Olson.
