Betty A. (Hines) Smith

Betty A. Smith, 94, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Lutheran Living.  Funeral services will be Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services, Muscatine.  Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.   Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M.at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to the charity of their choice. Betty Arlene Hines was born on December 12, 1926, in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Irving W. and Blanche Ada (Newton) Hines. Betty attended Park Place School, Locust Grove School and was a 1944 graduate of Muscatine High School.   On December 12, 1945, Betty was united in marriage to Harold LeRoy Smith in Muscatine.  She was a homemaker and member of the New Hope United Methodist Church where she served on the Outreach Committee.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.  Betty was skilled in sewing, cooking, canning and gardening and was a frequent exhibitor at the Muscatine county fair.

Betty will be deeply missed by her children, Edward LeRoy Smith of Muscatine, Charles E. (Teresa) Smith of Muscatine, Dr. Kathleen Smith of Loves Park, Illinois and William W. Smith of Muscatine; two grandchildren, Whitney Sue Heath and her husband, Nahum, Timothy Lucas Smith and wife, Yolanda; six great grandchildren Mercedes Smith, Kaden Smith, Karson Smith, Jaslene Moreno, Yecenia Echols and Sadie Echols all in Muscatine; one brother, Carl E. Hines of Muscatine and many nieces and nephews. 

 Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Irving W. Hines and sister, Lenora L. Cochran.
